any officer serving on the old lower
grade time-scale who is promoted after
the introduction of the new scheme to the

principle to be placed on the new scale.
If his salary at the time of promotion
is £1000 or less he would be placed on
the scale £1000 £50 £1150 + £150

residential allowance and his initial
salary would be governed by Colonial
Regulation 44. If his salary on promo-
tion was more than £1,000 he would start
at the appropriate point in the new
scale
